Fancy a weekend away, touring in a series of Porsches? Fine scenery, roads, Porsches, food and wine amongst good company. Read on...
Our Syndicate press release as been picked up by CarAdvice and MSN in addition to a brief write up in GQ. Naturally we're pretty excited about this and we think that syndicated ownership of Porsches offers a whole new way to look at that 'Sunday' 911, Boxster or Cayman that you'd only use for special occasions, dinner dates and trips away. We look forward to announcing our first Porsche Syndicate over the coming weeks and think it's a great way to get into either a new or classic Porsche.
As followers of our Facebook page would be aware, we've recently acquired a lightweight Porsche 911 for the purpose of track days and targa events. We thought it would be nice to post some details about the car, both as a way of documenting the 911's continuing diet, improvements and why we chose this particular Porsche.
WHY THIS 911?
We evaluated many Porsches, including 996 GT3 cup cars. In the end, after many long and enjoyable discussions with our mechanical team at Cavaco Motors, we decided an air cooled 911 would offer the purest experience for our guests, as well as giving us an opportunity to enter historic and targa events (it's a tough gig but you've got to do what you've got to do). The hunt began and, as anyone who's been looking for an air cooled 911 will tell you, it's wasn't easy finding a suitable example.
Having just returned from a two day Hunter Valley bespoke tour, I'm reminded of the variety of great drives and spectacular backdrops available on the doorstep of Sydney. Within forty minutes of leaving the city we were enjoying our 993 Carrera and 997 Carrera S on the exposed ridges and winding descents behind Peats Ridge. I'm still torn between the beauty and classic lines of the 993 versus the silky power and hidden punch of the 3.8 litre Carrera S. Fortunately we had an opportunity to sample both during our trip up and back :) I've long favoured the Putty Road route to the Hunter region however am starting to think this route offers both more elevation changes, a greater variety of scenery and, perhaps most importantly, less traffic than either Putty Road or the more direct freeway route.
A big shout out to our wonderful guests for the weekend (Andrew and Andrea) - thanks for your warmth (and hospitality). We're certain we'll see you again - whether it's in one of our Porsches or your own 911! Sydney - the best Porsche drive location in the world?
This marks the beginning of our new website, incorporating our syndicate offerings and bespoke tours. We'll be using this section to post news about upcoming events and experiences we've just enjoyed.
For the moment, I'll foreshadow a couple of large upcoming events:
(a) The launch of our first Porsche Syndicate
(b) The launch of our 'driver' program, where selected clients are invited back for private drives, which then enable them to experience our dedicated track Porsche in its natural environment
(c) Rennsport 2016 - this will be an absolutely enormous event, which we'll be attending. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements
There will be several other tours to historic and motor racing events that we'll be offering to selected drive day clients throughout the year, typically at iconic locations (Bathurst, Philip Island, The Hunter). It's certainly shaping up to be a big 2016!
